Job summary

Pathways Health Ltd in Nelson is seeking passionate, reliable, and caring individuals to join us as Casual Support Workers across all Pathways services. Our casual roles cover leave for permanent Support Workers in Nelson, providing you with the opportunity to gain valuable experience across a range of our services.

As a casual, the hours of work are not regular and are offered when they become available, so if you’re looking for a role with flexibility then we’d love to hear from you.

Qualifications

• It is essential that applicants are prepared to work all shifts (AM, PM and awake nights) when required.
• You need the right to work in New Zealand.
• Preferrably you’ll hold the New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing Level 4 or an equivalent qualification.
• Hold, or be prepared to complete the comprehensive first aid certificate.
• You need a full drivers licence.
• Knowledge of the Te Tiriti Waitangi principles.

Responsibilities

• Casual roles across Pathways services and cover for permanent staff in Nelson.
• Gain experience across a range of services with flexible hours.
• Work all shifts as required and be adaptable.
• Support tāngata whai ora in their recovery journey and ensure safety and wellbeing.
• Assist with daily living, budgeting, appointments and community connections.
• Help with cleaning, cooking, gardening or everyday tasks when needed.
• Provide medication support where required.

The role | Mō tēnei tūranga mahi

We’re looking for passionate, reliable, and caring individuals to join us as Casual Support Workers across all Pathways services. Our casual roles cover leave for permanent Support Workers in Nelson, providing you with the opportunity to gain valuable experience across a range of our services. As a casual, the hours of work are not regular and are offered when they become available, so if you’re looking for a role with flexibility then we’d love to hear from you.

You’ll be expected to work all shifts as required. AM: 7am - 3.30pm, PM: 3.00pm-11.30pm and Awake Night shifts 11.00pm -7.30am.

As a Casual Support Worker, you’ll play a vital role in supporting tāngata whai ora in their recovery journey, ensuring safety, wellbeing, and meaningful engagement. This role will always have variety, and it could include things like:

• Goal setting and building confidence


• Securing a job or finding a place to live


• Supporting people with budgeting and independent daily living skills


• Attending appointments and advocating for people


• Assisting people to connect with their communities


• Medication support where required


• Supporting whai ora with their daily routine


• Maintaining the house


• Supportingpeople to manage their distress


• Be prepared to do whatever it takes - cleaning, cooking, gardening or helping with everyday tasks
