Job summary

Summerset Retirement Villages in Hamilton is seeking a friendly casual Café Assistant for the Rototuna village to help create a warm, welcoming cafe experience for residents, families and visitors. You’ll prepare, present and serve food and drinks to a high standard, assist with catering for village events and resident functions, and help manage cash and daily takings.

This casual, on-demand role supports the village team including the Chef Manager and Café Supervisor, with opportunities to grow

Job Description

We’re now looking for a Café Assistant for our Rototuna village who shares our love for people and hospitality.

You’ll play a key role in delivering exceptional customer service and ensuring the smooth running of our café. From making great coffee to creating tasty cabinet food and light meals, you’ll help make our café a warm and welcoming place for residents, their families, and visitors. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

• Preparing, presenting, and serving food and drinks to a high standard
• Assisting with catering for village events and resident functions
• Handling cash and reconciling daily takings

You’ll work closely with the Chef Manager, Café Supervisor, and wider village team to deliver a café experience that’s welcoming, consistent, and genuinely enjoyable.

This is a casual role working on as and when needed basis.
