Job summary

Summerset Retirement Villages in Dunedin is hiring a Café Assistant to help create a warm, welcoming hub for residents, families and visitors. You’ll craft quality coffee, prepare cabinet foods and light meals, and deliver attentive, friendly service with a smile throughout every shift.

This permanent part‑time role runs Saturdays and Sundays from 10:00 am to 3:30 pm, with casual opportunities to expand your hospitality skills, gain recognised qualifications, and grow within a supportive village

Job Description

We're more than just a café, we’re a community hub, a space for connection, and a team that supports and looks out for each other. We’re now looking for a Café Assistant for our Dunedin village who shares our love for people and hospitality.

You’ll play a key role in delivering exceptional customer service and ensuring the smooth running of our café. From making great coffee to creating tasty cabinet food and light meals, you’ll help make our café a warm and welcoming place for residents, their families, and visitors. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

• Preparing, presenting, and serving food and drinks to a high standard
• Assisting with catering for village events and resident functions
• Handling cash and reconciling daily takings

You’ll work closely with the Chef Manager, Café Supervisor, and wider village team to deliver a café experience that’s welcoming, consistent, and genuinely enjoyable.

This is a permanent part-time position and working Saturday and Sunday from 10.00 am to 3.30 pm.
