Job summary

Summerset Retirement Villages in Blenheim is seeking a Café Assistant for our Blenheim village. You’ll help deliver a welcoming café experience, from great coffee to cabinet foods, for residents, families and visitors.

The role is casual with shifts offered on an as-needed basis, so flexibility and availability across varying shifts are important. You’ll work with the Chef Manager, Café Supervisor, and village team to ensure a consistent, enjoyable café experience for all.

Qualifications

• Warm, friendly personality with great customer service.
• Strong communication and multitasking abilities.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve coffee and food to high standard.

Job Description

We’re now looking for a Café Assistant for our Blenheim villagewho shares our love for people and hospitality.

You’ll play a key role in delivering exceptional customer service and ensuring the smooth running of our café. From making great coffee to creating tasty cabinet food and light meals, you’ll help make our café a warm and welcoming place for residents, their families, and visitors. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

• Preparing, presenting, and serving food and drinks to a high standard
• Assisting with catering for village events and resident functions
• Handling cash and reconciling daily takings

You’ll work closely with the Chef Manager, Café Supervisor, and wider village team to deliver a café experience that’s welcoming, consistent, and genuinely enjoyable.

This is a casual position with shifts offered on an as-needed basis, often at short notice. Therefore, flexibility and availability to work across varying shifts are important.

Qualifications

You will bring a warm and positive approach to everything you do, along with:

• A warm, friendly personality with great customer service skills
• Excellent communication and the ability to multitask
• The ability to work both independently and as part of a team
