Summerset is seeking a Café Assistant for our Waikanae Village in Wellington region. This casual role focuses on delivering a welcoming café experience for residents, families and visitors while upholding high service standards.

You’ll prepare coffee and cabinet meals, assist with events, and support the cafe team. A warm, friendly approach and strong communication are essential, with flexibility to cover day shifts across the week.

Job Description

We’re now looking for a Café Assistant for our growing Waikanae Villagewho shares our love for people and hospitality.

You’ll play a key role in delivering exceptional customer service and ensuring the smooth running of our café. From making great coffee to creating tasty cabinet food and light meals, you’ll help make our café a warm and welcoming place for residents, their families, and visitors. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

• Preparing, presenting, and serving food and drinks to a high standard
• Assisting with catering for village events and resident functions
• Handling cash and reconciling daily takings

This is a casual role, working on an 'as and when required basis'.The successful candidate will be available to work day shifts across the week and able to provide flexibility to meet service demands.

You’ll work closely with the Chef Manager, Café Supervisor, and wider village team to deliver a café experience that’s welcoming, consistent, and genuinely enjoyable.

You will bring a warm and positive approach to everything you do, along with:

• A warm, friendly personality with great customer service skills
• Excellent communication and the ability to multitask
• The ability to work both independently and as part of a team
