Job description

MBM is one of New Zealand’s most recognised multi-disciplinary media agencies, working with many of the country’s best-known brands. We solve business challenges through smart, creative and communications-led media thinking.

We’re looking for a media professional to join our Wellington team as a Business Manager.

We’re open to different levels of experience and are more interested in finding the right person than ticking every box. Whether you’re ready to step into a Business Manager role or are already operating confidently at this level, we’d love to hear from you.

You’ll take day-to-day ownership of a portfolio of clients, leading integrated media planning and campaign delivery across offline and digital channels. Working closely with senior leaders and our specialist teams, you’ll take briefs from initial response through to go-to-market, building strong client relationships and bringing together smart, effective media solutions.

Depending on your experience, you’ll also have the opportunity to take greater ownership of strategic planning, client relationships and mentoring more junior members of the team.

What you’ll be doing
  • Owning day-to-day client relationships and acting as a trusted point of contact
  • Leading media planning and campaign development from brief through to go-to-market
  • Developing integrated media recommendations across offline and digital channels
  • Working closely with specialist teams across areas such as Search, Performance, Social and TV
  • Overseeing campaign implementation, optimisation, reporting and delivery
  • Turning campaign performance, audience insights and market information into clear recommendations for clients
  • Managing workflow, budgets, schedules, invoicing and reconciliations across your client portfolio
  • Building strong relationships with media partners and identifying new opportunities for clients
  • Supporting and mentoring more junior team members, depending on your experience
  • Partnering with senior leaders on strategic thinking, client development and wider business opportunities
About you
You’ll ideally bring:
  • Experience within a media agency, with a solid grounding in media planning and client service
  • Confidence working across integrated media, with experience in offline, digital or both
  • Strong client relationship and stakeholder management skills
  • The ability to turn briefs, insights and campaign performance into clear media recommendations
  • Strong organisation, attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities)
  • Confidence communicating and presenting to clients and internal stakeholders
  • A collaborative, curious and solutions-focused approach
  • A genuine interest in solving client business challenges
  • Experience mentoring or supporting junior team members would be a bonus, but isn’t essential

We’re open to candidates at different stages of their career, so if you have strong media fundamentals but don’t meet every requirement above, we’d still encourage you to apply.
