Job summary

Sky is seeking a Broadcast Solutions Engineer in Auckland to design, integrate, and maintain the broadcast infrastructure that underpins Sky’s live and on‑air services.

You will work across contribution, production, playout and distribution, ensuring stability, resilience and industry‑leading quality for Kiwis.

Qualifications

• Hands-on broadcast engineering experience in live or mission-critical environments.
• Working knowledge of SDI/IP broadcast systems and IP networking fundamentals.
• Knowledge of modern broadcast standards and protocols, including ST 2110, NMOS, and SRT.
• Experience operating within incident, change, disaster recovery, and business continuity disciplines.
• Strong documentation skills and the ability to collaborate across technical teams.
• Experience with APIs, orchestration platforms, automation frameworks, and control protocols would be advantageous.
• Scripting, automation, version control, and experience in software-defined, virtualised, cloud-connected, or IP-based broadcast environments would be beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Designing, integrating, and maintaining Sky’s broadcast systems across contribution, production, playout, and distribution environments.
• Producing and maintaining detailed, auditable system designs aligned to architecture, security, and operational standards.
• Installing, configuring, commissioning, and documenting broadcast systems before handover to operations.
• Executing changes safely within governance, minimising risk to live broadcast services.
• Troubleshooting incidents with Support Engineers and vendors, driving fixes that reduce repeat issues.
• Acting as a broadcast engineering subject matter expert and applying current knowledge of SDI/IP broadcast technologies, standards, and industry trends.
