Job summary
Sky Network Television in Auckland is seeking a Broadcast Solutions Engineer to design, integrate, and maintain our broadcast infrastructure from live contribution through to playout and distribution. You will produce detailed system designs, configure and document systems, and work with vendors to ensure stability, resilience, and operational excellence in a fast-paced environment.
The role requires hands-on experience with SDI/IP, ST 2110, NMOS, and SRT, plus a proactive, collaborative
Qualifications
- Experience designing and maintaining live broadcast systems.
- Knowledge of SDI/IP, ST 2110, NMOS, SRT.
- Ability to operate in incident and disaster recovery contexts.
- Strong documentation and cross-team collaboration.
- Hands-on scripting or automation is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Design, integrate, and maintain Sky’s broadcast systems across contribution, production, playout, and distribution environments.
- Produce and maintain detailed, auditable system designs aligned to architecture, security, and operational standards.
- Install, configure, commission, and document broadcast systems before handover to operations.
- Troubleshoot incidents with Support Engineers and vendors, driving fixes that reduce repeats.
- Act as a broadcast engineering SME and apply current knowledge of SDI/IP technologies and trends.
- Work in live or mission-critical environments with strong problem-solving skills.
- Collaborate across technical teams and leverage APIs, orchestration platforms, and automation frameworks.

- Designing, integrating, and maintaining Sky’s broadcast systems across contribution, production, playout, and distribution environments
- Producing and maintaining detailed, auditable system designs aligned to architecture, security, and operational standards
- Installing, configuring, commissioning, and documenting broadcast systems before handover to operations
- Executing changes safely within governance, minimising risk to live broadcast services
- Troubleshooting incidents with Support Engineers and vendors, driving fixes that reduce repeat issues
- Acting as a broadcast engineering subject matter expert and applying current knowledge of SDI/IP broadcast technologies, standards, and industry trends
- Hands-on broadcast engineering experience in live or mission-critical environments
- Working knowledge of SDI/IP broadcast systems and IP networking fundamentals
- Knowledge of modern broadcast standards and protocols, including ST 2110, NMOS, and SRT
- Experience operating within incident, change, disaster recovery, and business continuity disciplines
- Strong documentation skills and the ability to collaborate across technical teams
- Experience with APIs, orchestration platforms, automation frameworks, and control protocols would be advantageous
- Scripting, automation, version control, and experience in software-defined, virtualised, cloud-connected, or IP-based broadcast environments would be beneficial
