Job summary

Team Global Express is seeking an experienced operations leader in Canterbury to drive performance across a busy transport and logistics branch. You will lead a high‑performing team, own branch P&L, and partner with customers and sales to deliver outstanding service.

You will plan resources, transport, and people to meet business goals while fostering growth, a safety‑first culture, and strong data reporting. A proactive, commercially minded leader with 5+ years in similar roles is preferred.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in an operational leadership role (transport, logistics or similar).
• Proven ability to plan and deliver to a plan.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Proactive problem solving approach.
• Strong Health & Safety focus.
• Confident with reporting, IT systems and data management.
• Commercial acumen and sales experience is a desirable attribute.

Responsibilities

• Take full ownership of branch financial performance, including P&L, EBIT and cost control.
• Lead a customer-focused team, working closely with customers and sales to deliver outstanding service.
• Strategically plan people, resources, and transport to achieve business goals.
• Inspire and develop your team, fostering a culture of growth and high performance.
• Drive growth, efficiency, and align the team with the evolving needs of the business.
• Manage key metrics: utilisation, claims, DIFOT, safety, and customer service.
• Champion a safety-first culture, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards.
• Collaborate with national and regional teams for shared success.
