Liebherr NZ is offering an Apprentice Technician position in the Earthmoving Division. This apprenticeship provides hands-on service, maintenance, and support for industry-leading earthmoving equipment, with real-world experience while earning a qualification for a long-term career.

You will start on Monday 18th January 2027, working alongside skilled technicians and participating in structured training, trade school attendance, and on-the-job learning to build broad industry experience.

Qualifications

  • Enrolled in, or committed to completing, a Certificate in Heavy Automotive Engineering.
  • Strong literacy, numeracy and basic computer skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to safely use hand tools and follow workplace safety procedures.
  • Willingness to learn new technical skills through structured training, on-the-job experience and trade school attendance.
  • Reliable, motivated and team-oriented with a positive attitude and commitment to personal and professional development.

Responsibilities

  • Assist qualified technicians with the inspection, maintenance, repair and overhaul of heavy equipment and machinery.
  • Learn to diagnose mechanical, pneumatic, and basic electrical faults while developing strong technical skills.
  • Safely operate workshop tools, equipment and lifting devices while maintaining a clean and organised work environment.
  • Successfully complete your apprenticeship training, attend required trade school and maintain training records.
  • Work across different service areas and participate in on-the-job training to build broad industry experience.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to safety, quality, teamwork, and continuous improvement in everything you do.
