Job summary

Liebherr-Australia Pty. Ltd. in Christchurch, NZ, invites motivated individuals to join an Apprenticeship in the Earthmoving Division starting 18 January 2027.

You will learn to service, maintain and support a range of heavy equipment used in construction and civil projects while gaining a trade qualification. Work alongside skilled technicians, complete required trade school, and build broad industry experience.

Qualifications

  • Enrolled in, or committed to completing, a Certificate in Heavy Automotive Engineering.
  • Genuine interest in mechanical equipment and developing a long-term trade career.
  • Strong literacy, numeracy and basic computer skills; able to complete training and documentation.
  • Able to safely use hand tools and follow safety procedures.
  • Willing to learn new technical skills through structured training and on-the-job experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assist qualified technicians with inspection, maintenance, repair and overhaul of heavy equipment.
  • Learn to diagnose mechanical, pneumatic, and basic electrical faults while developing technical skills.
  • Safely operate workshop tools and lifting devices; keep a clean, organized work environment.
  • Complete apprenticeship training, attend trade school and maintain training records.
  • Work across service areas and participate in on-the-job training to gain broad experience.
  • Demonstrate commitment to safety, quality, teamwork and continuous improvement.

You will learn to service, maintain and support a wide range of industry-leading earthmoving equipment used across construction infrastructure and civil projects.

Working alongside skilled professionals, you’ll gain real world experience whilst earning a qualification that can open doors to a long & successful career in a growing industry.

Start Date: Monday 18th January 2027

Responsibilities:
  • Assist qualified technicians with the inspection, maintenance, repair and overhaul of heavy equipment and machinery.
