Thames Pacific is hiring for an Accounts Assistant to own accounts payable across multiple entities. This on-site, part-time role (up to 20 hours/week) sits in our Cuba Street office and works closely with the CFO in a small team.
It’s not data-entry; it’s owning the payments picture with sound judgement. We’re looking for a proactive all-rounder who can juggle several entities, maintain a clear payment status, and support month-end processes.
Thames Pacific manages a portfolio of property development projects across a range of entities. This is an on-site role at our Cuba Street office. We're looking for an Accounts Assistant to own accounts payable (AP) across all of them, and to be a genuine all-rounder who keeps the office running. It's a busy, varied part-time role with real ownership: you'll always know where every payment stands, work directly with the CFO in a small, close-knit team, and have genuine say in how things get done. This isn't a high-volume data-entry role. You won't be churning through hundreds of invoices a month. It's about owning the payments picture, using judgement, and knowing where everything stands across the entities.
Process supplier invoices across all entities, coding to the correct project, entity, and cost category
Manage the accounts payable inbox: sorting, matching invoices, and following up on discrepancies
Prepare and load payment batches for approval, and reconcile payments once made
Track outstanding and upcoming payments, and flag anything urgent or unusual before it becomes a problem
Assist with reconciliations and support the CFO with ad hoc reporting and analysis
Look after general office administration and keep things ticking over day to day
Pitch in wherever needed, supporting the wider team and lending a hand on whatever comes up
Hands-on accounts payable or accounts administrator experience
Confident with Xero and spreadsheets (hands-on Xero experience required)
Accurate and methodical, with strong attention to detail and the ability to work to deadlines
Trustworthy with sensitive financial information
Just as important is attitude. We're after a proactive all-rounder who can juggle several entities without dropping the ball, keeps a clear picture of what's paid and what's pending, communicates professionally with suppliers, and is happy to muck in.
Flexible part-time hours: up to 20 a week (busier at month-end), worked to suit your life
School Holidays: flexibility to take additional leave around school holidays
Variety: no two days the same, across a portfolio of projects
Direct access to leadership: you'll work alongside the CFO in a small, close-knit team where your contribution is visible
Room to grow: learn on the job and expand your accounting skills under the CFO's mentorship, taking on broader accounting responsibility as you get up to speed
