Job summary

Lever, Inc. is seeking an Experienced Software Engineer based in Norway to contribute to a global, distributed product ecosystem built around open-source technology and the open web.

You will work across products and platforms with autonomy, collaborating across international teams and applying AI-assisted tooling to improve development and product delivery. This is a fully remote role with travel for in-person meetups.

Qualifications

• Proven professional experience as a software engineer delivering production-quality software.
• Experience with multiple programming languages, frameworks, and paradigms; PHP and JavaScript are valuable.
• Experience working at scale with backend systems, performance engineering, and distributed architectures.
• Strong understanding of software architecture, abstraction, and system behavior; weigh trade-offs between complexity and value.
• Strong debugging and problem-solving abilities; enjoys tackling complex technical challenges.
• High standards for code quality, maintainability, and reliability.
• Ability to work effectively in a fully distributed environment with asynchronous collaboration.
• Willingness to travel 3–4 weeks per year for in-person meetups.
• A degree is not mandatory; demonstrated engineering capability is central to the role.
