Job description

Do you enjoy getting things done, taking ownership, and working across both aftermarket and new sales?

At Neuver Maritime, we build the steering gears and rudders trusted by more than 14,000 vessels worldwide. We are experts in maneuvering and committed to shaping the future of safe and efficient maneuvering at sea. From our roots in Norway’s maritime cluster, we are growing our international presence and building a company ready for the next chapter, with innovative, lifecycle-driven solutions that help our customers get the most out of their maneuvering systems.

We operate from Brattvaag, Aalesund and Hagavik, with a growing global presence across the US, China, Singapore, South Korea, Poland and Greece. Together with our expanding network of service partners, this keeps us close to our customers, enabling us to respond quickly, act decisively and build relationships that last.

Our growth is about more than technology, products and new markets. It is also about building a strong organization and giving our people the support they need to do their best work. That is where this role comes in.

HR & Payroll Specialist
Your role

You will have the internal responsibility for payroll processes, controls and payroll-related compliance in Norway.

Our payroll processing is currently outsourced to an external provider. You will be Neuver Maritime's internal payroll expert and ensure that payroll data, processes and controls are accurate, compliant and well documented.

Going forward, we may continue with an outsourced payroll model or choose to bring parts of the payroll process in-house. You should therefore be comfortable both managing and controlling an external payroll provider and taking a more hands-on role in payroll processing if required.

Alongside payroll, you will work closely with the VP HR and contribute actively to the day-to-day delivery of HR.

Key responsibilities
Payroll
  • Take internal ownership of our Norwegian payroll process and ensure accurate and timely payroll delivery

  • Perform payroll controls and quality assurance before and after payroll runs

  • Ensure compliance with applicable payroll, tax, reporting and employment-related requirements

  • Prepare, validate and follow up payroll data and documentation

  • Act as the main HR contact towards our external payroll provider

  • Identify discrepancies, investigate root causes and ensure corrections are implemented

  • Maintain payroll procedures, controls and documentation

  • Support reconciliations and collaborate closely with Finance

  • Contribute to developing and improving our future payroll operating model

  • Be prepared to take on more hands-on payroll processing should payroll be brought partly or fully in-house

Operational HR
  • Work closely with the VP HR and support the operational HR agenda

  • Support employee lifecycle processes, including onboarding, changes and offboarding

  • Prepare employment contracts, amendments, letters and other HR documentation

  • Maintain accurate employee data in our HR systems

  • Support absence, working time and other employment-related processes

  • Assist managers with practical HR matters and ensure agreed processes are followed

  • Contribute to HR reporting, documentation, policies and procedures

  • Support recruitment and other HR activities when needed

  • Help ensure that our HR practices are aligned with Norwegian employment legislation and internal requirements

  • Take ownership of operational tasks and follow them through to completion

Who are we looking for?

First and foremost, we are looking for someone with solid Norwegian payroll experience.

You understand payroll controls, deadlines, legislation, reporting and compliance. You are accurate, identify errors and take ownership until issues are resolved.

HR experience is an advantage but not required. You should, however, be interested in developing your HR competence and comfortable supporting operational HR tasks.

We are looking for someone who:
  • Has solid experience with Norwegian payroll

  • Understands Norwegian payroll and employment legislation

  • Is structured, accurate and efficient

  • Takes ownership and works independently

  • Handles confidential information with discretion

  • Is curious, pragmatic and willing to learn

  • Works well in a small team

  • Communicates well in Norwegian and English

Digital mindset

You are curious about AI, automation and digital tools and look for smarter and more efficient ways of working.

A small team with broad responsibilities

We are a small HR team supporting a global organization. Our roles overlap, and we help each other where needed.

Your work will range from payroll and compliance to HR administration, employee data, manager support and process improvements. We are looking for someone who is hands-on, collaborative, low prestige and gets things done.

Qualifications
  • Solid Norwegian payroll experience is required

  • HR experience is an advantage

  • Knowledge of Norwegian employment legislation is preferred

  • Experience with HR/payroll systems is an advantage

  • Relevant education is desirable, but experience may compensate
