Job summary

CHC Group Ltd. in Stavanger, Norway, seeks a Payroll Analyst for a 12-month fixed-term contract. You will prepare, validate, and process monthly Norwegian payroll and ensure compliance with statutory requirements and GDPR.

You will manage Altinn reporting, perform reconciliations, support month-end close, and assist with audits. The role collaborates with HR and Finance to maintain accurate payroll data.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of payroll experience, preferably within a medium to large organisation.
  • Strong knowledge of Norwegian payroll legislation, taxation, pensions, sick pay, and reporting requirements.
  • Experience managing end-to-end payroll processes and payroll reconciliations.
  • Experience with Unit4 or similar payroll/ERP systems; Altinn reporting experience is desirable.
  • Relevant qualification in Payroll, Accounting, Finance, or equivalent experience.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with Norwegian payroll legislation and collective agreements where applicable.
  • Perform monthly payroll-to-general ledger reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
  • Prepare payroll journals and support month-end and year-end close activities.
  • Reconcile payroll-related balance sheet accounts, remittances, and taxes.
  • Administer employee benefits, pension deductions, sick pay, and other payroll transactions.
  • Maintain payroll master data and ensure records are up to date.
  • Support audits by preparing documentation and responding to inquiries.
  • Maintain and improve payroll procedures and internal controls.
  • Ensure data handling complies with GDPR and confidentiality standards.
  • Participate in payroll system testing, upgrades, and legislative updates.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation.
  • Build relationships with HR, Finance, and external providers.

Role Summary

Payroll Analyst

Sola (Stavanger), Norway | Full-time | Fixed-Term (12 Months)

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare, process, and validate monthly Norwegian payroll ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with company policies and statutory requirements.
  • Manage statutory payroll reporting and submissions through Altinn and other relevant Norwegian authorities.
  • Ensure compliance with Norwegian payroll legislation, tax regulations, employment requirements, and collective agreements where applicable.
  • Perform monthly payroll-to-general ledger reconciliations and investigate and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Prepare payroll journals and support month-end and year-end financial close activities.
  • Reconcile payroll-related balance sheet accounts, remittances, pension contributions, taxes, and other statutory deductions.
  • Administer employee benefits, pension deductions, sick pay, leave payments, and other payroll-related transactions.
  • Maintain employee payroll master data and ensure payroll records are accurate, complete, and up to date.
  • Support internal and external audits by preparing documentation, reconciliations, and responding to audit queries.
  • Maintain and enhance payroll procedures, documentation, and internal controls to ensure compliance and operational effectiveness.
  • Ensure payroll data is handled in accordance with GDPR and company data privacy requirements, maintaining strict confidentiality of employee information.
  • Participate in payroll system testing, upgrades, implementations, and legislative updates impacting payroll processes.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for process improvements, automation, standardisation, and efficiency gains.
  • Build effective working relationships with HR, Finance, employees, system providers, and external stakeholders.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by responding to payroll-related enquiries accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Assist with annual payroll reporting, year-end reconciliations, and statutory reporting requirements.
  • Support business continuity by providing cross-training and coverage for payroll activities as required.
  • Undertake other duties and projects as and when required.
