Helly Hansen is seeking a Senior Materials Manager to lead development of advanced materials for Workwear at our Oslo headquarters. You will guide woven, knit, and insulation programs, collaborating with cross-functional teams and our sourcing office in Hong Kong to hit cost targets and supplier capabilities.

The role emphasizes sustainability, testing, and leadership of the Workwear materials team, with travel to mills in Asia as needed. Strong communication and PLM skills are essential.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in textile/material development.
  • High level proficiency in performance fabrics and testing methodologies.
  • Excellent communication and project management skills.
  • Experienced user of PLM systems and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

  • Lead development of advanced materials for Workwear including woven, knits and insulations.
  • Oversee seasonal follow-up across categories such as trades and hi visibility.
  • Define testing protocols and performance standards for professionals in harsh environments.
  • Collaborate with Hong Kong sourcing and supply chain teams on cost targets and vendor capabilities.
  • Drive material innovation aligned with sustainability goals and long-term product strategy.
  • Represent the materials team in cross-functional meetings and supplier workshops.

The Senior MaterialsDeveloperdrives excellence in material functionality, sustainability, and supplier enablement, while collaborating closely with cross-functional teams and our sourcing office in Hong Kong.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead development of advanced materials includingwoven, knits and insulations,with astrongfocus onpantsandwaterproof/insulated,fully taped garments.
  • Leaddevelopmentand seasonalfollow-upcross categories such as but not limited to trades, hi visibility and multinorm.
  • Leadquality controland follow-uponmaterialrelatedtopics.
  • Define and maintain testing protocols and performance standards to meet the needs of professionals in the harshest environments.
  • Collaborate with Hong Kong sourcingand supply chainteams to align on cost targets and vendor capabilities.
  • Drive material innovation aligned with sustainability goals, compliance, and long-term product strategy.
  • Represent the materials team in cross‑functional meetings and supplier workshops.
  • Take an active role in meetings, guiding teams in fabric selection and briefcreation.
  • Be anactive leader and mentorfor the Workwear materials team.
  • Participate in supplier visits and trade fairs.Travel when needed to material mills in Asia.
