Job summary

Helly Hansen AS is seeking an experienced Pattern Maker to join our Oslo HQ. This full-time, permanent role focuses on transforming product concepts into functional, well-fitting garments through collaboration with Design and Development teams.

The ideal candidate brings strong technical garment construction knowledge, a proactive mindset, and a passion for creating performance garments for demanding environments. You will report to the Pattern Team's Team Manager.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Pattern Design or equivalent education and experience.
  • Proficient with Gerber Accumark or similar CAD system.
  • Knowledge of Browzwear 3D software.
  • Experience pattern making in apparel, preferably sport/outdoor.
  • Experience with PLM systems and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee specifications for fit, sizing and construction for styles.
  • Create full patterns and block patterns and measurement lists.
  • Lead fit sessions with developers and designers.
  • Review products for cost savings and sustainability.
  • Maintain size and fit consistency across categories.
  • Establish grading increments and measurement points, and control graded patterns.
  • Travel as necessary for allocated products.

Helly Hansen is looking for a Pattern Maker

As Helly Hansen Sport continues to grow, we are expanding our Product Development Team and are looking for an experienced and passionate Pattern Maker to join us for this full-time, permanent position at our headquarters in Oslo.

At Helly Hansen Sport, we develop professional-grade garments trusted by professionals around the world. As a Pattern Maker, you will play a critical role in transforming product concepts into functional, durable, and well-fitting garments. You and the Pattern Team will collaborate closely with Design and Product Development to ensure that our products meet the Helly Hansen standards of fit, comfort, performance, and quality.

The ideal candidate combines strong technical garment construction knowledge with a solution-oriented mindset and a passion for creating garments that perform in demanding environments.

You will report to our Team Manager in our Pattern Team.

Main responsibilities within the role as a pattern maker
  • To oversee, establish and communicate all specifications for fit, sizing and construction details for allocated styles.
  • To create full patterns, block patterns and measurement lists based on needs.
  • To plan, coordinate and lead/take active part in fit sessions for allocated styles together with developers and designers.
  • To contribute to optimizing products and material consumption and critically review (in regards to price and sustainability.)
  • To know the consumer target groups and focus on fit silhouettes to achieve and maintain fit and size consistency throughout the categories.
  • To establish and update grading increments and measurement points, and control graded patterns for all product types.
  • Actively prepare, plan for and travel when necessary for the execution for allocated products.
What we’re looking for
  • A degree in Pattern Design or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Documented skills in Gerber Accumark or similar CAD system to efficiently create and modify patterns.
  • Knowledge of 3D software, at Helly Hansen we work with Browzwear 3D.
  • Proven experience in a pattern making role in the apparel industry. Preferably sport/outdoor industry with a proven record of highly technical garments.
  • Experience in PLM systems and Microsoft Office programs. We use Centric PLM.
  • Good organizational, collaboration, and communication skills.
  • Positive attitude, curious and proactive mindset.
