MSWA’s Albany Accommodation Centre is seeking a Cook to plan menus with residents, prepare nutritious meals on a budget, and manage stock while upholding food safety and hygiene standards. You’ll work closely with the Residential Manager and team to support residents’ wellbeing in a warm, supportive environment.

The role is permanent part-time (20 hours per fortnight) and based at Albany Accommodation Centre.

Qualifications

  • Food safety certification is required or willingness to obtain.
  • Previous cooking or hospitality experience is essential.
  • Ability to plan nutritious meals within a budget.
  • Strong kitchen hygiene and food safety knowledge.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • NDIS checks and orientations are required or willing to obtain.

Responsibilities

  • Develop menus in consultation with residents and management.
  • Prepare nutritious meals with good presentation.
  • Manage food supplies through stock control and shopping.
  • Ensure food safety, labeling, and storage compliance.
  • Maintain clean, hygienic kitchen meeting health regulations.
  • Support communal meal prep and small functions.
  • Maintain equipment and liaise with staff to meet resident needs.

About The Role

As a Cook at our Albany Accommodation, you’ll play a key role in enhancing the wellbeing of our residents by preparing nutritious, delicious meals tailored to individual needs. Working closely with the Residential Manager and team, you’ll plan menus, manage food supplies, and ensure the kitchen remains safe, clean, and compliant with food safety standards. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys cooking with purpose, values meaningful connections, and takes pride in maintaining high standards of food quality and hygiene. This is a permanent part-time position with 20 hours per fortnight. The position is based in Albany Accommodation Centre.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop menu plans in consultation with residents and management, catering to dietary requirements
  • Prepare and serve high-quality, nutritious meals with excellent presentation
  • Ensure adequate food supplies through effective shopping and stock management
  • Maintain strict food safety practices, including correct food storage, handling and labelling
  • Keep kitchen areas clean, hygienic and compliant with health regulations
  • Support small functions and communal meal preparation within the residence
  • Maintain kitchen equipment, utensils and inventory
  • Communicate effectively with staff to ensure residents’ needs are consistently met
Must-haves
  • Food Safe Food Hygiene certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Previous experience in a similar cooking or hospitality role
  • Ability to plan and prepare nutritious meals within a budget
  • Strong understanding of kitchen hygiene and food safety standards
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willingness to obtain)
  • NDIS Worker Orientation Module (or willingness to obtain)
