Job summary

MSSANT in Kilkenny, South Australia, is seeking an Occupational Therapist or Senior OT to deliver comprehensive services to clients with neurological conditions, including MS, MND, Parkinson’s, and stroke. You will assess, plan interventions, and empower clients to improve daily living and independence.

Collaborate with families and suppliers, navigate funding and documentation, and mentor OT students and assistants as part of a dynamic allied-health team.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational therapy (or equivalent qualification).
  • Current registration with AHPRA.
  • NDIS Worker Screening Check and NDIS Workers Orientation module (or willingness to obtain).
  • First Aid & CPR Certification: Current Provide First Aid and CPR certificate.

Responsibilities

  • Comprehensive Assessments: Conduct detailed OT assessments in a variety of settings, including homes and community spaces, addressing daily living, physical, sensory, and cognitive needs.
  • Varied interventions: Work across a variety of intervention spaces relating to symptom management, complex assistive technology prescription, home and environment modifications and more.
  • Collaborative Care: Work closely with clients, families, and external stakeholders (including equipment suppliers) to design and implement effective interventions and facilitate equipment provision.
  • Navigate Funding Models: Demonstrate expertise in managing and navigating funding models to ensure clients receive the equipment they need.
  • Palliative Care Sensitivity: Offer support with sensitivity and competence to clients requiring palliative care, ensuring dignity and comfort in their final stages.
  • Accurate Documentation: Maintain precise, up-to-date client records to ensure high-quality, continuous care.
  • Mentorship: Share your knowledge by mentoring OT students, OTAs, and volunteers, contributing to the development of future OT professionals.

We’re currently seeking a passionate Occupational Therapist or Senior Occupational Therapist to join our team at MSSANT.

  • This role will be part of our Kilkenny Team based in South Australia

In this fulfilling role, you’ll be at the heart of delivering comprehensive OT services for individuals living with neurological conditions such as Multiple Sclerosis (MS), Motor Neurone Disease (MND), Parkinson’s, Huntington’s, Stroke, and Acquired Brain Injuries.

You’ll collaborate closely with clients to develop personalised interventions, empower them to achieve their goals, and enhance their independence in daily life. Your role will also involve supporting individuals in managing complex symptoms such as fatigue, sleep disturbance, cognitive changes, thermoregulation, and upper limb and hand dysfunction. Additionally, you’ll introduce advanced assistive technology solutions to improve overall quality of life.

How You'll Contribute

Essential Requirements
  • Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in occupational therapy (or equivalent qualification).
  • Registration: Current registration with AHPRA.
  • Driver’s License: Valid Australian "C" Class Driver's License (with no restrictions).
  • NDIS Worker Screening Check and NDIS Workers Orientation module: (or willingness to obtain).
  • First Aid & CPR Certification: Current Provide First Aid and CPR certificate
Desired Skills & Experience:
  • Experience conducting a variety of Occupational Therapy assessments, including Functional Capacity Assessments (FCA), Home and Living Assessments, Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) Assessments, and Supported Independent Living (SIL) Assessments.
  • Experience working with clients living with neurological and degenerative conditions.
  • Skills in prescribing assistive technology across a range of complexity levels.
  • Knowledge of, and experience working within, the NDIS and other relevant funding schemes.
