Job summary

Techconsult AS is seeking an Offshore Hook-Up Work Prep Engineer to ensure timely preparation of work orders supporting construction, mechanical completion (MC) and commissioning on offshore projects.

You will collaborate with engineering, planning, construction and commissioning teams, and prepare detailed work orders in PIMS PES, including MHR estimates, drawings and MTOs, while ensuring HSSE compliance and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Technical or engineering education with a relevant trade certificate or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 5 years in oil and gas, preferably construction or commissioning.
• Familiarity with MC and commissioning processes and PIMS tools.
• Ability to read P&IDs, ISO drawings and technical documentation.
• Fluent Norwegian and good command of English.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain detailed work orders in PIMS PES from engineering packs.
• Estimate man-hours, include drawings, procedures and MTOs.
• Coordinate with engineering, planning, construction and commissioning teams.
• Ensure safety and HSSE compliance in planned work.
• Identify process improvements and lessons learned.

Position Purpose The Work Prep Engineer ensures the timely and accurate preparation of work orders to support construction, mechanical completion (MC), and commissioning activities. The role is critical in enabling safe and efficient execution in line with project schedules and company standards.

Job responsibilities:

Work Order Preparation: Based on information provided in engineering work packs (EWP), the Work Prep Engineer shall develop and maintain detailed work orders in PIMS PES, including, but not limited to, man-hour (MHR) estimates, drawings, procedures, and material lists (MTO).

Interface Management: Collaborate closely with engineering, planning, construction, and commissioning teams to ensure all prerequisites are met prior to job execution.

Quality & HSSE Compliance: Review safety aspects of planned work, identify risks, and ensure compliance with HSSE requirements and project implementation models.

Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to optimize work preparation processes and contribute to lessons learned.

The position is preferably based on a regular work week, with some possibilites for remote work when practical.

Your experience and qualifications:

• Technical education (vocational or engineering degree) with a relevant trade certificate or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the oil & gas industry or a related industry, preferably within construction or commissioning.
• Familiarity with MC and commissioning completion processes and digital tools (e.g., PIMS CMS/PIMS PES).
• Strong understanding of drawings (P&IDs, ISO) and the ability to interpret technical documentation.
• Fluent in Norwegian, with a good command of English, both written and spoken.
