Job summary

JP Gray in Rotterdam is seeking a Trade & Supply Coordinator to support trading and supply operations, coordinating between internal teams, customers and external parties to ensure contracts are fulfilled and optimized.

The role requires a Logistics/Shipping degree, relevant experience, and strong analytical skills. Hybrid work is standard with a 40-hour week and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain or Shipping related fields.
  • Operational work experience in a commercial or trading environment is preferred.
  • Experience in shipping and maritime contexts is advantageous.
  • English at near-native level; Dutch, French or German is a plus.
  • Strong ability to work with multiple software systems.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure optimized operational plan is executed.
  • Collaborate with logistics and manufacturing to resolve deviations.
  • Develop scenarios for unplanned shutdowns and assess options.
  • Analyze performance data using Salesforce, Power BI or TMS and drive improvements.
  • Identify opportunities to improve ways of working with SMEs.

The division of this organization combines a global network of trading companies, industry leading shipping and maritime capabilities, and an integrated network of supply and distribution activities. Through their main trading offices in London, Houston, Singapore, Dubai, and Rotterdam they trade crude oil, natural gas, LNG, electricity, refined products, chemical feedstocks, and environmental products. The Operations team is responsible for providing a seamless alignment between all trading and supply commercial and operational activities, enabling the best commercial decisions to be made and executed on a daily basis. The Operations team is fully focused on Operational Excellence and works closely with the supply teams and help optimize the supply of refined products in bulk between the upstream refining and downstream marketing organizations within Benelux and Germany.

What you will be doing as a Trade & Supply coordinator

As a Trade & Supply coordinator you are carrying out the tasks required to meet the contractual obligations of deals agreed by your traders or refinery optimizers. You will liaise with internal departments, customers and other external parties such as third-party operations, brokers and independent surveyors as part of implementing each contract supporting the trading team. Sounds dynamic? It is very dynamic and requires that you, as a Trade and Supply coordinator, own a solid and commercial mindset. You will have the autonomy to contribute to the profitability of the product trading team. Next to this you need to demonstrate you are a reliable and trustworthy team player and have self-starter qualities.

Examples of your responsibilities are
  • Assuring the optimized operational plan gets executed.
  • Where required you work closely with logistics (marine and land) and manufacturing sites to understand and resolve any deviations from plan.
  • For unexpected events like an unplanned prompt shutdown, develop scenarios to assess feasibility and economic outcomes of various supply options to mitigate supply disruptions and its financial impact.
  • Analyze performance data (inventory levels, customer lifting, data quality) using available platforms such as salesforce, Power BI or transport management systems TMS, and identify and drive corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives to drive performance and value.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement of ways of working with subject matter experts.

Your profile
  • Bachelor's or master's Degree level in Logistics, Supply Chain and/or related to Shipping, Maritime etc.
  • Relevant and operational work experience;
  • Preferably experience in a commercial and/or trading position.
  • Preferably worked in a shipping and maritime environment.
