Job description

We are looking for an experienced Operations Expert who enjoys improving complex logistics operations, solving operational challenges and building scalable processes in a fast-growing international business.

  • A fascinating, dynamic and international market where you set the operational standard.
  • Room to lead improvement projects, coach colleagues, and shape our supply chain.
  • € 4.000 - € 4.800, gross excl. holiday allowance and a strong benefits package, including 30 holidays.

Are you ready to design the operational engine that accelerates the energy transition, together with the nicest colleagues ever? We challenge you to energize the future and have fun doing so!

What are you going to do?

As an Operations Expert, you are the driving force behind operational excellence at Connex. You lead the execution of complex logistics operations across trucking flows, including UCO and animal fat, and own the end-to-end process: contracts, transport, documentation, settlements, and claims. When critical disruptions or supply chain exceptions arise, you are the go-to escalation point, keeping a cool head while finding practical solutions.

But you do more than execute. You design. You optimise planning processes, develop operational standards, and translate our rapid business growth into scalable, reliable, and cost‑efficient solutions. You build dashboards and KPIs, analyse operational data, and turn insights into improvements that stick. You are the subject‑matter expert our Commercial, Finance, Sustainability, and Logistics colleagues love working with – and the coach who helps our Operations Executives grow.

Your responsibilities:
  • Lead the execution of complex logistics operations across trucking flows, and own the end-to-end process: contracts, transport, documentation, settlements, and claims.
  • Act as the primary escalation point for critical disruptions, customer issues, and supply chain exceptions, and drive performance by proactively managing logistics partners, terminals, suppliers, and customers.
  • Lead supply and transport planning for your logistics flows, balancing commercial priorities, operational constraints, and cost efficiency, and evaluating routing, timing, and capacity trade‑offs to maximise performance.
  • Develop contingency plans and mitigation strategies to minimise the impact of disruptions and supply chain risks.
  • Ensure accurate, complete, and compliant documentation (transport, customs, TRACES, ISCC), and act as a subject‑matter expert for operational compliance, supporting audits and regulatory reviews.
  • Ensure accurate and efficient ERP processing (Business Central) and safeguard data integrity across ERP, SharePoint, and operational systems, while identifying opportunities to improve data quality, controls and workflows.
  • Develop operational KPIs, dashboards and reports, analyse operational data, and lead improvement projects that make our operations more efficient, reliable and scalable.
  • Coordinate complex logistics activities across multiple stakeholders, creating alignment between Operations, Trade, Finance, and external partners.
  • Coach and guide Operations Executives, facilitate knowledge sharing, and drive a culture of continuous improvement within the Operations team.
Who you are

You are a curious go‑getter with a sharp analytical mind and a genuine drive to make things better. You see structure where others see chaos and enjoy solving complex operational challenges. You take ownership of processes, projects, and outcomes, and you are not afraid to challenge existing practices. You move easily between the operational floor and the strategic table, building credibility with senior stakeholders and external partners alike. And of course, you are a team player passionate about the energy transition who inspires colleagues, clients, and partners with your strong relationship‑building skills.

What you bring
  • 5-7 years of experience in international logistics, supply chain, or commodity trading.
  • Advanced knowledge of logistics, supply chain, and trading operations; experience in trading, commodities, or renewable fuels is a big plus.
  • Strong process improvement and project management capabilities, with a demonstrated track record of delivering measurable operational improvements.
  • Experience leading operational improvement initiatives or cross‑functional projects.
  • An analytical mindset with strong problem‑solving skills; you dig into diverse data sources to find root causes and turn them into practical solutions.
  • The ability to manage complex operational challenges in a dynamic, fast‑paced environment, with limited supervision.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication, presentation, and influencing skills – you build credibility with senior stakeholders and external partners alike.
  • Strong IT skills: Business Central (our ERP), advanced Excel and reporting tools, Power BI or similar analytics platforms, and SharePoint.
  • Familiarity with supply chain and logistics optimisation methodologies.
  • Excellent written and verbal English (and preferably another language).
