Job summary

Rafel in Amsterdam is seeking a Shiftleader to provide operational leadership on shift across the restaurant, bar, terrace and events. You’ll allocate tasks, oversee the floor, and ensure welcoming, efficient, safe service while staying calm under pressure.

You’ll brief before service, lead the team, coordinate with kitchen, bar and waiting staff, handle guest questions or complaints, and hand over clearly to the next shift. You’ll develop colleagues and uphold hygiene standards.

Qualifications

• Experience in hospitality, preferably in a coordinating or supervisory role.
• Experience in restaurant and bar service; events experience is an advantage.
• Knowledge of hygiene and safety regulations; Social Hygiene certificate is an advantage.
• You take responsibility, maintain overview, and are confident making decisions.
• Guest-focused, good communication, remains calm during peak periods.
• Proficient in Dutch and English to communicate with guests and colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Provide operational leadership to the team during shifts across restaurant, bar, terrace and events.
• Review reservations, staffing levels and events; brief and assign tasks before service.
• Lead the team during service; coordinate with bar, waiting staff and kitchen to maintain quality and hospitality.
• Welcome guests, handle questions or complaints professionally, and lead by example on hygiene and safety.
