Job description

Objective

As an Independent Chef de Partie at Rafel , you’ll work in a unique waterfront location on Amsterdam’s IJ, where street art, accessible food, music, and hospitality come together. You are responsible for the preparation, cooking, and presentation of our dishes.

You will work with an all-day menu designed for a broad audience, featuring bar snacks, sandwiches, wraps, salads, and other crowd favorites. You maintain quality and speed, keep the kitchen organized, and ensure that every dish is presented consistently and with care.

Daily tasks

You start your shift by preparing mise-en-place and checking stock levels, orders, and upcoming reservations or events. You ensure the kitchen is clean, organized, and fully prepared before service begins. During service, you independently prepare dishes from the menu. You work efficiently, maintain oversight, and consistently deliver high-quality food with an attractive presentation. You monitor deliveries and inventory, identify items that need replenishing, and contribute to minimizing waste. You work according to HACCP guidelines and help maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment.

For events and group reservations, you coordinate preparation and service according to the schedule. You can easily switch between regular service and larger groups and enjoy finding practical solutions to ensure smooth execution.
