What you will do
While detailed calculations and analyzes are typically prepared by external specialists, you will be responsible for reviewing, challenging and coordinating these deliverables, ensuring the technical quality and consistency of the overall Naval Architecture scope for your assigned project(s). You will act as the technical contact point for all Naval Architecture-related matters within your assigned project(s).
- Take technical ownership of the Naval Architecture scope within your assigned project(s).
- Review, verify and challenge Naval Architecture deliverables covering stability, weight management, hydrostatics, vessel performance, watertight integrity, structural fire protection, loadline, tonnage and other related regulatory compliance.
- Ensure technical consistency, feasibility and compliance with project requirements, class rules and flag regulations.
- Translate regulatory requirements into practical and buildable engineering solutions.
- Coordinate technical discussions with classification societies, flag administrations, suppliers and internal/external engineering partners.
- Support production by resolving technical issues during construction and providing on-site technical support when required.
- Support docking, launching and transport operations.
- Work closely with the Lead Engineer to ensure technical alignment and successful delivery of the Naval Architecture scope.
What you bring
You are an experienced Naval Architect with a strong technical background in stability, weight management and regulatory compliance. You are expected to understand the engineering behind the design, review and challenge technical calculations, and make sound engineering decisions.
- MSc or BSc degree in Naval Architecture or Marine Engineering
- Minimum 5 years of experience within yachtbuilding, on large yachts (45m+)
- Strong naval architecture background, including stability, weight estimation and weight monitoring, inclining tests and sea trials.
- Good understanding of international regulations, class rules and flag requirements. Experience with REG Yacht Code is an advantage.
- Experience reviewing and validating naval architecture calculations and the confidence to challenge technical assumptions when necessary.
- Good understanding of yacht production processes and shipyard constraints.
- Strong engineering judgment with the ability to work independently and take clear ownership of responsibilities.
- Excellent communication skills and fluent English
