For a leading shipyard within the luxury yacht industry, we are looking for an experienced Project Engineer Exterior. In this role, you will lead the engineering activities within the Exterior discipline and ensure that design, quality, planning and manufacturability come together throughout the project.
Your role
As Project Engineer Exterior, you are responsible for the engineering scope of the Exterior discipline within your project.
You coordinate the technical development from design through engineering and ensure that the final solution meets the required quality standards, planning, budget and applicable maritime regulations.
You act as both a technical specialist and a coordinator, working closely with engineers from other disciplines and a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
What will you be doing
Your responsibilities include:
- Leading and managing the Exterior engineering scope within the yacht project;
- Coordinating a team of junior and senior engineers;
- Ensuring engineering activities are delivered according to quality, budget and planning;
- Developing and overseeing the final technical design, specifications and 3D models;
- Ensuring compliance with applicable Class and Flag requirements;
- Acting as a technical expert and resolving complex engineering challenges;
- Coordinating closely with other engineering disciplines to ensure an integrated yacht design;
- Reviewing engineering output and maintaining high technical standards;
- Supporting and mentoring engineers within the project team;
- Coordinating with stakeholders, including the Owner’s team;
- Identifying and resolving technical bottlenecks during the engineering process;
- Ensuring engineering solutions are suitable for efficient yacht production and construction;
- Contributing to the continuous improvement of engineering processes and working methods.
What are we looking for?
You combine strong technical knowledge with the ability to lead engineers and coordinate complex projects.
You have:
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Naval Engineering, Maritime Technology or a related technical field;
- At least 5 years of engineering experience within shipbuilding;
- Experience coordinating or managing a team of engineers;
- Strong technical understanding of yacht building, production and construction processes;
- Experience with 3D AutoCAD;
- Preferably experience with Siemens NX, Teamcenter and/or Cadmatic;
- Good command of the English language, both written and spoken;
- Strong communication skills and the ability to adapt your communication style to different stakeholders;
- The ability to maintain an overview while simultaneously dealing with complex technical details.
What you can expect
- Salary between €4,000 and €5,800 gross per month
- 40 vacation days per year based on full-time employment
- 8% holiday allowance + a guaranteed 2.75% supplement until 2027
