Job summary

Forexx Group B.V. in Amsterdam is seeking a Naval Architect/Marine Engineer to lead the design process for advanced naval vessels. In this role, you will tackle challenges from conceptualization to detailed engineering of complex systems, ensuring performance and compliance with regulations.

The ideal candidate holds a Master’s or Bachelor’s degree and has extensive experience in shipbuilding and a strong proficiency in CAD tools. A competitive salary and relocation assistance are offered.

Job description

As a Naval Architect/Marine Engineer, you will play a key role in shaping the next generation of naval vessels. You ensure that advanced ships and their complex systems remain at the forefront of technology and performance. You will tackle a wide range of challenges, from holistic ship design to the detailed engineering of propulsion, mechanical handling, HVAC, and fire-fighting systems. Within the Research, Development & Innovation department, you collaborate in multidisciplinary project teams to create innovative maritime engineering solutions and translate concepts into tangible specifications for shipbuilding projects.

Tasks & Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Lead the full design and development process, from requirement analysis and concept creation to defining system architecture using 2D/3D CAD, MBSE models, and single-line diagrams.
  • Perform weight and stability estimations, perform weight calculations and stability assessments to ensure compliance with class regulations and safe vessel performance throughout all design phases.
  • Evaluate and develop new maritime concepts, lead Proof-of-Concept studies, and report on technological feasibility and findings.
  • Translate concepts into detailed deliverables, including models, technical documentation, and equipment specifications, supported by clear reports and presentations.
  • Facilitate strong collaboration between stakeholders and internal teams to ensure integrated design processes and successful project execution.
Skills & Experience

We are looking for candidates who bring:

  • A Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Naval Architecture, Maritime Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • At least three years of hands-on experience in design, proposal development, or R&D within naval shipbuilding, maritime, or offshore industries.
  • A proven ability to deliver meaningful innovation within your technical domain.
  • Proficiency with relevant CAD tools and engineering analysis software.
  • Strong command of the English language, spoken and written.
  • Excellent references, as security screening is required.
  • Permanent EU nationality, due to the defence-related nature of the projects.
