Job summary

MULTI.engineering is seeking a highly experienced Naval Architect to manage the Naval Architecture scope for large superyacht projects. The role focuses on weight calculation, estimation and monitoring, supported by stability and regulatory compliance knowledge.

In an international, English-speaking project team, you will review external calculations, ensure technical consistency and maintain weight development control throughout engineering and construction.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Naval Architecture or Marine Engineering.
  • 7+ years of relevant experience in shipbuilding or yachting industry.
  • Experience with vessel weight calculations, weight estimation and weight monitoring.
  • Knowledge of stability calculations, inclining tests and sea trials.
  • Good understanding of international maritime regulations, classification rules and flag requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Take technical ownership of the Naval Architecture scope for the project.
  • Prepare, review and maintain weight calculations, estimates, margins and weight-monitoring reports.
  • Track weight development throughout engineering and construction, identifying deviations and consequences.
  • Review and challenge technical deliverables covering stability, hydrostatics, vessel performance and regulatory compliance.
  • Assess the effect of design changes on vessel weight, centre of gravity, stability and performance.
  • Ensure compliance with project requirements, classification rules, flag regulations and yacht codes.
  • Coordinate technical discussions with classification societies, flag administrations, suppliers and engineering partners.
  • Translate regulatory and Naval Architecture requirements into practical, buildable solutions.
  • Resolve technical issues during construction and provide on-site engineering support.

As a Naval Architect, you will manage the Naval Architecture scope for one or more large superyacht projects. The main emphasis is on weight calculation, estimation and monitoring, supported by your knowledge of stability and regulatory compliance. You will work in an international, English-speaking project team. Relocation support is available when needed.

Where You’ll Work

You will join a multidisciplinary engineering team working on large, fully custom-built superyachts. Reporting to the Lead Engineer, you will independently manage your assigned scope while coordinating with Project Management, Production, Engineering and external specialists.

Detailed calculations and analyses may be prepared by external engineering partners. Your responsibility is to review and challenge these deliverables, maintain technical consistency and ensure that the weight development of each project remains controlled throughout engineering and construction.

  • Support inclining tests, sea trials, docking, launching and transport operations.
Profile
What You Bring
  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Naval Architecture or Marine Engineering.
  • At least seven years of relevant experience in shipbuilding or the yachting industry.
  • Extensive experience with vessel weight calculations, weight estimation and weight monitoring.
  • Practical knowledge of weight margins, centres of gravity and the impact of design changes on vessel performance.
  • Experience with stability calculations, inclining tests and sea trials.
  • The ability to review technical calculations critically and challenge assumptions when necessary.
  • Good knowledge of international maritime regulations, classification rules and flag requirements.
  • Experience with the REG Yacht Code would be an advantage.
  • A good understanding of yacht construction processes and shipyard constraints.
  • The engineering judgement to work independently and take clear ownership of your technical scope.
  • Excellent communication skills in English.
