Job summary

IQVIA is seeking a Lead Data Engineer to drive the technical direction of data pipelines and data warehouses for the Patient Finder product. You will guide platform evolution, standardise patterns, and ensure reliability across the data landscape.

You will mentor engineers, balance scalability with business needs, and collaborate with Product, Engineering, QA, and ML teams. A strong English communication skillset is essential.

Qualifications

• Extensive hands-on Python development experience, building scalable, maintainable, production-grade solutions.
• Proven ETL/ELT data pipelines design and development with modern orchestration tools (Airflow/Prefect/Luigi/Dagster).
• Experience with dbt for data modeling, testing and deployment within analytics ecosystems.
• Experience with Databricks and large-scale data pipelines optimization.
• Advanced SQL skills across MS SQL Server, PostgreSQL or similar.
• Proven cloud-based data platforms, data warehouses, and lakehouse architectures.
• Experience leading development teams or providing architectural mentorship.
• Ability to make independent architecture decisions balancing scalability and business needs.
• Strong communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• English fluency; European-based, preferably near Amsterdam, NL.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end design and delivery of the data platform (pipelines + warehouse) using Python, SQL and Prefect.
• Standardise patterns and improve maintainability across the data landscape.
• Plan releases, validation, risk management, and stakeholder communication.
• Collaborate with Product and Engineering to refine requirements and prioritise work.
• Raise engineering standards with reviews and quality practices, including AI-assisted development.
• Increase test maturity and automation with QA for pipelines and transformations.
• Partner with AI/ML teams to integrate data components with the product ecosystem.
• Lead the data engineering team and manage work intake and prioritisation.
