Job summary

IQVIA is seeking a Lead Data Engineer to drive the data platform design and build robust data pipelines and warehouse layers. You will lead across evolving platforms, mentor engineers, and coordinate with Product and Engineering to plan delivery.

You will work hands-on with Python, SQL, and orchestration tools (Airflow/Prefect), shape architecture, ensure quality, and promote governance, testing, and scalable solutions within the Patient Finder product.

Qualifications

• Extensive hands-on Python development experience.
• Proven experience designing, developing, and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines.
• Experience with dbt for data transformation and testing.
• Hands-on Databricks experience for data engineering workflows.
• Advanced SQL skills with enterprise RDBMS.
• Experience building cloud-based data platforms and warehouses.
• Led development teams or provided architectural guidance.
• Ability to make independent architecture decisions balancing scalability and business needs.
• Strong data engineering best-practices knowledge (quality, lineage, observability).
• Excellent written and verbal English communication.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end design and delivery of the data platform (pipelines + warehouse).
• Standardise patterns and improve maintainability and reliability across the data landscape.
• Ensure change control with release planning, validation, and risk management.
• Collaborate with Product and Engineering to refine requirements and prioritise work.
• Raise engineering standards with reviews and quality practices (including AI-assisted development).
• Increase test maturity, coverage, and automation for pipelines and data transformations.
• Coordinate with Application and AI/ML leads to integrate data components.
• Lead the data engineering team and manage work intake/prioritisation.
