Job summary

ENERCON in Barneveld, Netherlands, is seeking a Senior Expert Battery Energy Storage Systems (m/f/d) to lead system-level design and integration of BESS within hybrid power plants.

You will drive requirement and test specs, coordinate with suppliers, and explore new tech capabilities for future deployments.

This role demands advanced degrees and hands-on MB development experience, English communication, and a passion for renewable energy.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a comparable field.
• Experience with industrial BESS systems and/or power converters; knowledge of grid-following, grid-supporting, or grid-forming functionalities is a plus.
• Proficiency in requirements engineering, test specification development, and the V-model approach including verification and validation.
• Model-based development tools such as Matlab/Simulink; System Composer is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Own the system-level requirement specification for Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and continuously develop it.
• Build and refine the system-level test specification for BESS, ensuring it meets evolving technical and operational needs.
• Integrate BESS power units into the hybrid control power plant across full system functionality.
• Lead MiL and HiL qualification processes—from concept to series optimization.
• Direct external BESS suppliers with technical authority and align with project goals.
• Scout emerging technologies relevant to BESS for future integration.
