Job summary

g2 Recruitment is seeking an experienced Senior BESS Project Engineer for a utility-scale project in Arnhem, Netherlands. You will support the Owner's Engineer team, providing technical leadership across the project lifecycle and acting as the main interface among the client, EPC contractor, grid operator, and suppliers to ensure safe, compliant, and high-quality delivery.

Qualifications

• Proven experience delivering utility-scale BESS projects from design through commissioning.
• Strong understanding of battery technologies, PCS/inverters, EMS, SCADA, HV substations, and grid connection infrastructure.
• Knowledge of Dutch permitting requirements and utility-scale energy project development.
• Familiarity with technical due diligence, design reviews, risk management, and commissioning activities.

Responsibilities

• Review and coordinate multidisciplinary engineering deliverables across electrical, civil, mechanical, and control systems.
• Lead technical reviews of BESS, HV grid connection, SCADA, protection, and fire safety designs.
• Support HAZID workshops, risk assessments, and design compliance with Dutch regulations and industry standards.
• Review EPC specifications, support procurement activities, and manage key technical interfaces between contractors, suppliers, and grid stakeholders.
• Contribute to project planning, budgeting, permitting, and risk management throughout the project lifecycle.

Duration: October 2026 – April 2027

Purpose of the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior BESS Project Engineer to support a utility-scale BESS project in Arnhem. As part of the Owner's Engineer team, you will provide technical leadership throughout the project lifecycle, acting as the key interface between the client, EPC contractor, grid operator, and suppliers to ensure safe, compliant, and high-quality project delivery
