Job summary

Jobgether partners to recruit a Principal Engineering Manager based in the Netherlands. You will lead a critical engineering area, shaping solutions with product and design, and guiding teams toward sustainable delivery.

You’ll stay connected to the technical work while empowering engineers to make strong decisions. The role offers broad influence over standards, architecture, delivery practices, and long-term product outcomes in a globally distributed environment.

Qualifications

Significant experience leading engineering teams within a product-focused technology organization.
Proven track record delivering complex products, platforms, or systems in fast-moving environments.
Strong technical judgment and ability to participate in both engineering and product discussions.
Ability to lead through ambiguity, establish clarity, and turn complex problems into actionable plans.
Experience partnering with Product and Design to shape solutions and priorities.
Excellent communication skills to align stakeholders at all levels.
Ownership mindset with a practical, execution-oriented leadership style.
Experience with cloud-native technologies and modern engineering practices.
Familiarity with PHP/Symfony, Node.js, TypeScript, Angular, PostgreSQL, Redis, MongoDB, AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform, and Helm helpful.
Understanding distributed architectures, observability, CI/CD, and automated testing is a plus.
Experience using LLMs and AI-assisted development tools to improve quality.

Responsibilities

Lead and develop an engineering team with clear direction, coaching, and growth support.
Partner with Product and Design early to shape solutions aligned with customer and business needs.
Own delivery from problem definition through execution with clear priorities and dependencies.
Establish sustainable execution through planning, progress tracking, and risk management.
Provide technical leadership across complex products and systems and influence architectural decisions.
Maintain high standards for quality, scalability, reliability, testing, and continuous delivery.
Identify opportunities to improve practices, collaboration, and delivery across the org.
Encourage engineers to work with modern development technologies, including AI-assisted tools.
