Job summary

IQVIA is seeking a Lead Data Engineer in the Netherlands to drive the technical direction of data pipelines and data warehouse layers. You will lead across evolving platforms, ensure reliability, and deliver improvements while mentoring the team.

You will collaborate with Product, Engineering, QA, and AI/ML leads to integrate data components with the wider product ecosystem, contributing to healthcare data platforms and secure analytics in a cross-functional, largely remote team.

Qualifications

• Extensive hands-on Python development experience.
• Proven ETL/ELT pipeline design using modern orchestrators.
• Experience with dbt and data transformation.
• Experience with Databricks and large-scale data pipelines.
• Advanced SQL on enterprise RDBMS (SQL Server, PostgreSQL).
• Demonstrated experience leading development teams or senior technical contributor.
• Strong English communication; European-based near Amsterdam preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end design and delivery of the data platform (pipelines + warehouse).
• Standardise patterns to reduce overhead and improve maintainability.
• Ensure release planning, validation strategies, and risk management.
• Partner with Product and Engineering to refine requirements and prioritize backlog.
• Raise engineering standards through reviews, testing, and governance.
• Collaborate with QA to increase test maturity, coverage, and automation.
• Collaborate with AI/ML leads to integrate data components with the product ecosystem.
• Lead the data engineering team, coaching engineers and owning work intake and prioritisation.
