Job summary

Darjeeling Restaurant in Alkmaar seeks an Independent working Chef -I to lead a station, preparing lunch and dinner with precise mise en place and attention to detail.

You will ensure high quality, taste and presentation while applying HACCP safety standards and supervising assistants. The role requires an MBO 3 diploma and the ability to work independently with Dutch or English.

Qualifications

• MBO level 3 diploma in work and thinking (MBO 3).
• Demonstrable knowledge of basic cooking techniques.
• Ability to work independently and take initiative.
• Resilient under stress during peak periods.
• Works well in a restaurant team; Dutch or English spoken.

Responsibilities

• Independently prepare lunch and dinner dishes.
• Carry out mise en place and prep tasks.
• Ensure quality, taste, and presentation of dishes.
• Apply HACCP and safety regulations.
• Manage inventory: ordering, receiving, and checking products.
• Clean and maintain kitchen equipment and workspaces.
• Contribute ideas for recipes and menu updates.
• Supervise compliance with regulations and assistants.

Role :Independent working Chef -I

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

• Independently prepare lunch and dinner dishes
• Carry out mise en place and other preparatory tasks (cutting, mixing, portioning)
• Ensure the quality, taste, and presentation of all dishes
• Apply and comply with HACCP and safety regulations
• Manage inventory: ordering, receiving, and checking products
• Clean and maintain kitchen equipment and workspaces
• Contribute ideas for recipes, menu updates, and more efficient processes
• Supervising compliance with regulations and the work of the assistants.

We Are Looking for Someone Who:

• Holds an MBO level 3 diploma of work and thinking level MBO 3.
• Someone who has demonstrable knowledge of basic cooking techniques
• Shows initiative and can work independently
• Can handle stress and peak busy periods effectively
• Functions well within the dynamics of a restaurant team
• Speaks Dutch or English
• Is enthusiastic, dedicated, and eager to learn
