Job summary

Clayton Hotel Amsterdam American is seeking a Receptionist to warmly welcome guests, manage check-ins/outs, and handle reservations with accuracy. The role covers day and night shifts, requiring strong English communication and familiarity with Opera PMS.

You’ll promote local tips and ensure a seamless guest experience in a historic Art Deco setting. Ideal candidates have hotel front office experience, solid organisational skills, and a passion for hospitality.

Qualifications

• MBO Hotel School diploma (Level 3 or equivalent).
• Preferably 2 years’ experience as a receptionist or in a similar front office role.
• Proficient with Opera PMS and other hotel systems.
• Excellent communication skills in English (Dutch or another language is a plus).
• Knowledge of Amsterdam and passion for hospitality.
• Organised, reliable, and calm under pressure.
• Flexible to work nights & evenings, weekends, and public holidays.

Responsibilities

• Welcome guests with warmth and professionalism.
• Check-ins and check-outs accurately and efficiently.
• Manage reservations, payments, and financial transactions.
• Answer questions and handle requests with confidence and care.
• Share recommendations about Amsterdam’s attractions, events, and dining.
• Communicate clearly with other departments to ensure smooth operations.
• Support guests with wake-up calls and messages.
• Maintain an overview of daily arrivals, departures, and room allocations.
• Keep the front desk and lobby area neat, professional, and welcoming.
• Review guest data, payments, and reports in Opera PMS.
• Support colleagues across departments during busy periods.
