Job summary

Alfen is seeking a Commissioning Engineer to lead the final phase of our Energy Storage System projects across the Netherlands and abroad. You will manage commissioning, perform measurements and tests, oversee handover, and ensure safe, compliant on-site execution.

Collaborating with development teams and site technicians, you will document results, drive continuous improvements, and help shape the electricity grid of the future.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Industrial Automation.
• 5–10 years of relevant experience in electrical engineering projects, preferably in energy storage or high-voltage systems.
• Experience with PLC systems (e.g., Siemens) and embedded software.
• Knowledge of electrical installations at both low- and high-voltage levels.
• Authorization as installation and/or operational manager (IV/WV).
• A valid VCA VOL certificate and preferably also First Aid (BHV) certification.
• Strong command of both Dutch and English.

Responsibilities

• Commissioning ESS installations on-site, including proper system integration.
• Performing electrical measurements, testing, and inspections on both low- and high-voltage components.
• Identifying, analyzing, and resolving technical issues, often in collaboration with other disciplines.
• Conducting maintenance work in accordance with NEN 3140/3840 standards.
• S1 qualification to be responsible for the installation of projects and service operations in Finland.
• Checking product quality on-site and initiating improvements.
• Preparing technical reports on completed work, deviations, and inspections.
• Supervising and guiding (assistant) technicians at the project site.
• Participating in on-call duties and standby service rotations.
