Reporting to the EMEAI Field Service Manager, this Field Engineer is responsible for providing state‑of‑the‑art onsite services (installation, preventive maintenance, break‑fix/troubleshooting call‑out, site survey, etc.) and technical support to customers on our range of Auto ID products, in particular our range of stationary industrial scanners and cameras.
Key Responsibilities
- Install (mechanical, electrical), configure and start‑up (commissioning) Datalogic equipment at customer sites as per pre‑defined specifications.
- Maintain, re‑stamp, adjust and replace onsite Datalogic devices of existing customer systems.
- Follow rigorously safety and security onsite company procedures.
- Escalate to upper technical level problems that can’t be solved independently.
- Issue timely and accurate service reports (including expenses report).
- Extend or help building a respectful relationship with customers by always adopting an exemplary attitude.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor degree in a technical field such as electronics.
- Languages: German as primary; English as additional language is considered a plus.
- Experience: Preferred 2-3 years of prior experience in field service activities in automation or other similar market with electrical and electronic devices.
Other Information & Specific Skills
- Electrical & mechanical schematics reading.
- Troubleshooting and diagnostic experience of electromechanical and software.
- Good understanding of computer networks (LAN, VLAN).
- Good understanding of network protocols (TCP‑IP, UDP, FTP, SFTP, HTTPS).
- Good understanding of serial communications (RS232 & RS485).
- PLC communications experience (PROFINET, PROFIBUS, Ethernet‑IP).
- Experience in working with industrial automation devices.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Software (MS Dynamics is a plus).
- Willingness to travel is important. 80% of the time the candidate will travel inside Netherlands; 20% maximum availability to travel outside the country.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Resident in Germany (Colonia, Dusseldorf area preferred).
