Job description

Overview

We are looking for a dynamic and technically proficient Service Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for providing technical support and service to our clients, while also actively contributing to the growth and development of our service division. This role is based in Utrecht, Netherlands and may include up to 100% travel.

Responsibilities
  • Provide expert technical support, troubleshooting, and maintenance of automation systems and equipment for customers across various industries.
  • Remote support: Remotely conduct diagnostics, troubleshoot problems, and implement solutions.
  • Field Service: Travel to client sites to perform installations, repairs, upgrades on automation systems; correct complex problems/malfunctions to PLC/SCADA and/or computer-controlled installations; conduct failure analysis in automation via online diagnosis, investigate root cause, and take appropriate corrective actions.
  • On‑call: Provide availability for and respond to critical technical issues during designated on‑call periods.
  • Documentation: Maintain detailed records of service activities, including reports, maintenance logs, and equipment manuals.
  • Training: Conduct training sessions for clients and internal teams on the use and maintenance of automation systems.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on industry trends and new technologies to improve service offerings.
  • Sales and Business Growth: Drive business growth by providing exceptional service and fostering strong client relationships.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field
  • Proven experience in the automation industry, including technical support and service
  • Minimum 5 years experience in an automation role in an industrial setting
  • Hands‑on experience with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Outlook
  • Professional level English (C1, C2, or Native)
  • Ability to work in The Netherlands and other European countries without sponsorship
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with one or more of the following platforms:
    • Inductive Automation Ignition
    • Rockwell ControlLogix/CompactLogix, PlantPAx, or FactoryTalk
    • Emerson DeltaV
    • Schneider Electric Modicon PLCs, EcoStruxure, PowerSCADA, or Power Monitoring Expert (PME)
    • AVEVA System Platform or AVEVA PI Historian System
    • Siemens S7, PCS7, or WinCC
    • Other: VMWare, Cisco or Fortinet Networking and Firewalls
