Job summary

Antal International in the Netherlands seeks a Senior Accountant to run day-to-day accounting across two Dutch sites, own month-end closing dossiers and help formalise processes.

You will ensure audit readiness, support VAT and corporate tax filings, and mentor the Junior Accountant while contributing to automation and ERP upgrades as the finance function matures.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of hands-on accounting experience in industrial or multi-entity environments.
• Strong technical accounting skills: GL, AP/AR, reconciliations, and month-end close.
• Knowledge of Dutch VAT rules and basic statutory reporting requirements.
• Fluent in English and Dutch.

Responsibilities

• Execute all operational accounting tasks: journal entries, account reconciliations, GL maintenance, and intercompany postings.
• Prepare and own the month-end closing dossiers, ensuring completeness and audit readiness.
• Support VAT declarations, corporate tax preparation, and other statutory filings under supervision of the Chief Accountant.
• Identify inconsistencies, gaps, or errors in the accounting data and flag them before they reach controlling.
• Document accounting workflows and procedures as they are formalised across both sites.
• Coach and support the Junior Accountant on transactional tasks and quality standards.
• Act as backup for the Chief Accountant on routine closing tasks during absences.
• Contribute to upgrading the company's capability through automation or ERP upgrades.

The Senior Accountant is the operational backbone of the accounting pillar. This role executes the day-to-day accounting across one or both Dutch sites, owns the month-end closing dossiers, and plays a critical role in building and documenting accounting processes in a business that is actively formalising its ways of working.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Execute all operational accounting tasks: journal entries, account reconciliations, GL maintenance, and intercompany postings.
• Prepare and own the month-end closing dossiers, ensuring completeness and audit readiness.
• Support VAT declarations, corporate tax preparation, and other statutory filings under the supervision of the Chief Accountant.
• Identify inconsistencies, gaps, or errors in the accounting data and flag them proactively before they reach the controlling side.
• Document accounting workflows and procedures as they are being formalised across both sites.
• Coach and support the Junior Accountant on transactional tasks and quality standards.
• Act as backup for the Chief Accountant on routine closing tasks during absences.
• Contributes into upgrading the capability of the company through automation or implementation of new functionalistes (OCR, ERP upgrades, etc)

MUST-HAVE PROFILE

• Senior Accountant: 4+ years of hands-on accounting experience, preferably in an industrial or multi-entity environment.
• Junior Accountant: 1+ year
• Strong technical accounting skills: GL, AP/AR, reconciliations, and month-end close.
• Knowledge of Dutch VAT rules and basic statutory reporting requirements.
• Rigorous, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously.
• Comfortable operating in an environment where processes are still being defined.
• Fluent in English and Dutch.

NICE TO HAVE

• Experience working across two or more legal entities or sites simultaneously.
• Basic understanding of management accounting and cost centre structures.
• HBO or WO degree in Accountancy, Finance, or Business Administration.
