Job summary

JEK recruitment B.V. has a client in Amsterdam seeking a Senior Accountant to own a broad set of accounting duties in SAP, including General Ledger, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Asset Accounting, Travel Expenses and daily bank reconciliations.

You will support month-end and year-end closes, oversee cash management, VAT and Intrastat filings, and liaise with external auditors, while driving process improvements and ensuring compliance with Dutch GAAP and IFRS.

Qualifications

• Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business (Bachelor's or Master's).
• Experience in general accounting, industrial setting or Big Four.
• Experience with statutory accounts preparation and external audit support.
• Strong knowledge of Dutch VAT, Corporate Tax, and Payroll regulations.
• Strong understanding of Dutch GAAP and IFRS.
• Ability to handle confidential data with discretion.
• Strong analytical and numerical skills.
• Fluency in Dutch is required.

Responsibilities

• Handle day-to-day accounting operations in SAP, including GL, AR, AP, asset accounting, travel expenses, and daily bank reconciliations.
• Support month-end and year-end closing processes within tight deadlines.
• Oversee cash management, including supplier payments and customer collections.
• Assist with VAT and Intrastat filings and other local tax submissions.
• Ensure compliance with corporate tax requirements and local regulations.
• Provide ad hoc financial analyses to support decision-making.
• Identify and implement process improvements with a focus on automation.
• Manage payroll processing and ensure accuracy and timeliness.
• Act as a key contact for external auditors and regulators.

They are looking for an Senior Accountant to join their finance team and take ownership of a broad range of accounting responsibilities.

Your responsibilities

• Handle day-to-day accounting operations in SAP, including General Ledger, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Asset Accounting, Travel Expenses, and daily bank reconciliations
• Support month-end and year-end closing processes within tight deadlines
• Oversee cash management, including supplier payment preparation and monitoring of customer collections
• Assist with the preparation and submission of local tax filings, including VAT and Intrastat
• Ensure compliance with corporate tax requirements and local regulations
• Provide ad hoc financial analyses to support business decision-making
• Identify and implement process improvements with a focus on automation and digitalisation
• Manage payroll processing and ensure accuracy and timeliness
• Act as a key point of contact for external auditors and regulatory authorities

Your profile

• Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business (Bachelor's or Master's)
• Relevant experience in general accounting, ideally in an industrial setting or Big Four firm
• Experience with statutory accounts preparation and external audit support
• Solid knowledge of Dutch VAT, Corporate Tax, and Payroll regulations
• Strong understanding of Dutch GAAP and IFRS
• Comfortable handling confidential data with discretion
• Strong analytical and numerical skills
• Fluency in Dutch is required for this position
