Job purpose:
To support the provision of institutional level assurance on the efficiency and effectiveness of ASE's financial controls, undertaking such work as required to deliver truly value adding improvements to internal controls and governance to protect its value. The function is pivotal in successfully delivering these objectives, driving effective changes as well as designing, embedding and delivering processes for our future control and assurance needs.
Duties and responsibilities:
Financial control, report and audit
- Review and maintain accurate financial records, including prepayments, accruals, depreciation/amortisation, as well as intercompany transactions.
- Monthly financial review and reconciliations, ensuring all balance sheet accounts are fully reconciled at the end of each month with individual balance properly explained/documented by BD 10 after end of each month.
- Monthly consolidation to provide insightful information for management reporting, include sub-consolidation where necessary
- Maintaining entity and group consolidation
- Ensuring compliance with ledger reporting rules setup to ensure uniformity across jurisdiction
- Ensuring compliance with local GAAP reporting requirements
- Group consolidation in accordance with IFRS and/or local GAAP, where applicable, for external reporting. Communicate between team members on reclassification and/or adjustments to ensure a correct GAAP conversion
- Create and maintain shadow IFRS reporting
- If and as required, liaising with external consultants and accounting advisors to create and maintain the necessary books and records
- Manage audit process, liaise with group auditors on Dutch annual audit as per the timelines set out by the lenders, ensuring a smooth audit process and concluding audit within the required timeframe
- Preparing and filing of statutory accounts for both individual entity and consolidated group accounts as per local compliance requirements
- Periodic review to ensure the group finance control polies/processes are followed adequately.
- Support stakeholders across departments for various management reports.
Taxation
- Manage indirect tax matters, including import/export, VAT returns and associated VAT administrative work, liaise with local tax authority when needed
- Support CFO on local tax strategy to optimise tax advantage, such as interest deductions, tax depreciation allowances, green investment credits and other local schemes.
- Liaise with local tax advisors to ensure relevant tax liabilities and/or credits are correctly recorded in the financials.
- Filing relevant tax returns on time for all Dutch group companies
Other responsibilities
- Preparation of borrower company accounts for project financing as per hard closing timeline
- Provide support and training to junior staff and to Treasury, P2P and O2C team members when needed
- Manage SSI entry for all bank accounts, validate new and/or changes prior to system update.
- Other ad-hoc tasks when required
- ACCA or other professional accounting qualification
- 5-6 years of experinece
- Strong technical knowledge on Dutch GAAP and local taxes
- Excellent attention to detail
- Good prioritisation and time management skills
- Enthusiasm, commitment and willingness to go the extra mile when required
- IT literate (MS Office and Office 365). Experience working with NetSuite preferred
- Fluent in spoken and written English. Dutch language prefered.
