Job summary

HORIZONTECH INDUSTRIES SDN BHD in Perai, Penang, is seeking a skilled Wire Cut Machinist to join our engineering team. You will operate and maintain wire-cut EDM machines to produce high-precision components that meet exact specifications.

This full-time role requires reading technical drawings, setting up machines, monitoring quality, and collaborating with engineering and quality teams to drive continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Proven experience operating wire-cut EDM machines in manufacturing.
• Strong understanding of precision machining tolerances and measurement techniques.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Knowledge of machine setup, tooling systems and cutting parameters.
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to high-quality standards.
• Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills for troubleshooting.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Basic computer skills for machine programming and data recording.
• Certifications in machining or mechanical engineering preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate wire-cut EDM machines to cut and shape metal components according to technical drawings and specifications.
• Set up and programme wire-cut machines, including adjusting cutting parameters, tooling, and workholding devices.
• Monitor machine operations to ensure accuracy, precision and adherence to quality standards.
• Measure and inspect finished components using precision measuring instruments such as micrometres and gauges.
• Perform routine maintenance on wire-cut machines, including cleaning, tool changes and minor repairs.
• Troubleshoot machine malfunctions and implement corrective actions to minimise downtime.
• Maintain accurate records of production output, machine performance and quality metrics.
• Collaborate with the engineering and quality teams to resolve technical issues and improve production processes.
• Adhere to all health, safety and environmental regulations in the workplace.

About the role

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Wire Cut Machinist to join the engineering team at HORIZONTECH INDUSTRIES SDN BHD. This is a full-time position based in Perai, Penang. As a Wire Cut Machinist, you will play a critical role in our precision manufacturing operations, operating and maintaining wire-cut electrical discharge machines (EDM) to produce high-quality components that meet exact specifications. This position is essential to delivering precision-engineered products that form the backbone of our engineering solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Operate wire-cut EDM machines to cut and shape metal components according to technical drawings and specifications
