Qualifications

• 3–5 years’ experience in production planning/scheduling within manufacturing.
• Proficiency in production planning software and MRP/ERP systems.
• Knowledge of metal fabrication processes including welding, machining, and assembly.
• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain production schedules for metal work operations aligned with delivery dates.

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Metal Work Planner to join the Production, Planning & Scheduling team at Horizontech Industries Sdn Bhd. This is a full-time position based in Seberang Perai, Penang. As Metal Work Planner, you will be instrumental in optimising our manufacturing operations, ensuring efficient production scheduling, and coordinating all aspects of metal fabrication and assembly work. This role is critical to maintaining our production targets, managing resources effectively, and delivering quality products on time.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain comprehensive production schedules for metal work operations, ensuring alignment with customer delivery dates and company capacity.
• Analyse production requirements and material specifications to create detailed work plans and job sequencing.
• Coordinate with the production team to allocate labour, equipment, and materials efficiently across all metalworking projects.
• Monitor production progress against planned schedules and identify potential delays or bottlenecks, implementing corrective actions as needed.
• Manage inventory levels of raw materials and work-in-progress to minimise waste and ensure smooth workflow.
• Prepare production reports and performance metrics, providing insights into productivity, efficiency, and resource utilisation.
• Liaise with sales, engineering, and procurement teams to ensure all production requirements are clearly understood and achievable.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement best practices to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and quality standards throughout all planning and production activities.

What we're looking for

• A minimum of 3-5 years' experience in production planning, scheduling, or a related role within the manufacturing or metalworking industry.
• Proficiency in production planning software and MRP (Material Requirements Planning) systems; ERP experience is highly desirable.
• Strong knowledge of metal fabrication processes, including welding, machining, assembly, and finishing techniques.
• Excellent organisational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to resolve scheduling conflicts and production challenges.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other relevant computer applications for data analysis and reporting.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy in all planning and scheduling activities.
• An understanding of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies would be advantageous.
• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
