Job summary

HORIZONTECH INDUSTRIES SDN BHD in Penang seeks an experienced Supervisor (Sheet Metal) to oversee day-to-day production, ensure quality, and lead a team of operators and technicians.

Reporting to the Production Manager, you will drive safety, efficiency, and continuous improvement initiatives across cutting, forming, welding, and finishing processes.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience in sheet metal fabrication.
• Proven supervisory or team leadership experience.
• Strong knowledge of sheet metal processes, including cutting, forming, welding, and finishing.
• Familiarity with quality control standards and inspection procedures.
• Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to multitask.
• Proficiency in reading technical drawings and understanding manufacturing specifications.
• Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental practices in manufacturing.
• Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement experience preferred.
• Diploma in Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Supervise sheet metal production activities, including cutting, forming, welding, and finishing processes.
• Monitor production schedules and ensure timely completion of orders whilst maintaining quality standards.
• Conduct regular inspections of work in progress and finished products to ensure they meet specifications and quality requirements.
• Lead, train, and develop a team of production operators and technicians, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
• Maintain accurate production records, documentation, and reporting systems.
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance productivity and reduce waste.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations on the shop floor.
• Manage equipment maintenance schedules and coordinate with maintenance teams.
• Address production challenges and implement corrective actions promptly.
• Communicate effectively with other departments, including planning, quality assurance, and senior management.

About the role

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Supervisor (Sheet Metal) to join our team in Penang. This is a full-time position that plays a crucial role in our manufacturing operations. As Supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day sheet metal production activities, ensuring compliance with quality standards, and leading a team of production operators and technicians. This role is essential to maintaining our reputation for excellence and meeting our clients' demanding requirements. You will report directly to the Production Manager and will have a direct impact on operational efficiency, product quality, and team performance.

What we're looking for

• Familiarity with quality control standards and inspection procedures
• Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to multitask
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and develop team members
• Problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving production issues
• Proficiency in reading technical drawings and understanding manufacturing specifications
• Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental practices in manufacturing
• Computer literacy and familiarity with production management systems
• Preferably, experience with lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies
• Relevant qualifications such as a Diploma in Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent would be advantageous
