Job summary

Oriental Sunrise Engineering Sdn. Bhd is seeking a TIG (GTAW) welder in Bayan Lepas, Penang. You will weld stainless steel components, read engineering drawings, and prepare materials per procedures to deliver high-quality welds that meet customer specs.

You will set up welding equipment, verify parameters, and perform inspections while collaborating with Production, Quality, and Engineering teams to resolve welding-related issues. 1–3 years’ TIG experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum SKM, Diploma or equivalent technical qualification.
• Valid TIG Welding Certification (preferred).
• AWS, ASME, or equivalent welding qualification is an added advantage.
• Minimum 1–3 years of TIG welding experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience welding stainless steel sheet metal, tubing, and fabricated components.
• Proficient in TIG (GTAW) welding techniques.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and welding symbols.
• Knowledge of stainless steel welding processes and material characteristics.
• Skilled in using measuring instruments such as vernier calipers, measuring tapes, and weld gauges.
• Good manual dexterity and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Perform TIG (GTAW) welding on stainless steel components, weldments, and assemblies according to approved welding procedures and work instructions.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, welding symbols, and specifications.
• Prepare materials for welding, including cleaning, fitting, alignment, and joint preparation.
• Set up and operate TIG welding equipment and ensure correct welding parameters are used.
• Produce high-quality welds that meet customer specifications and internal quality standards.
• Perform visual inspection of completed welds and identify defects requiring repair or rework.
• Carry out weld repairs as required while maintaining product quality requirements.
• Use measuring tools and gauges to verify dimensions and weld quality.
• Maintain welding equipment and perform routine housekeeping and basic preventive maintenance.
• Work closely with Production, Quality, and Engineering teams to resolve welding-related issues.

About you
