Job summary

ICHOR Systems Malaysia Sdn Bhd in Shah Alam is seeking a skilled TIG welder to perform GTAW welding on stainless steel components, weldments and assemblies in accordance with approved procedures.

You will read drawings, prepare materials, set up equipment, and ensure welds meet customer and internal quality standards, while maintaining a clean and safe work environment and collaborating with Production, Quality, and Engineering teams.

Qualifications

• Minimum SKM, Diploma or equivalent technical qualification.
• Valid TIG welding certification (preferred).
• AWS/ASME or equivalent qualification is an added advantage.
• 1–3 years of TIG welding experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience welding stainless steel sheet metal, tubing, and fabricated components.
• Able to read engineering drawings and welding symbols.

Responsibilities

• Perform TIG (GTAW) welding on stainless steel components, weldments and assemblies according to approved welding procedures and work instructions.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, welding symbols, and specifications.
• Prepare materials for welding, including cleaning, fitting, alignment, and joint preparation.
• Set up and operate TIG welding equipment and ensure correct welding parameters are used.
• Produce high-quality welds that meet customer specifications and internal quality standards.
• Perform visual inspection of completed welds and identify defects requiring repair or rework.
• Carry out weld repairs as required while maintaining product quality requirements.
• Use measuring tools and gauges to verify dimensions and weld quality.
• Maintain welding equipment and perform routine housekeeping and basic preventive maintenance.
• Work closely with Production, Quality, and Engineering teams to resolve welding-related issues.

About you

Knowledge of stainless steel welding processes and material characteristics

Skilled in using measuring instruments such as vernier calipers, measuring tapes, and weld gauges

Good manual dexterity and attention to detail
