Job summary

IBIDEN Electronics Malaysia Sdn Bhd is seeking a Wastewater Maintenance Engineer to join our engineering team in Bukit Minyak, Penang. This full-time role focuses on operation, maintenance and optimisation of wastewater treatment systems to ensure regulatory compliance and high operational standards.

The ideal candidate holds a Mechanical or Environmental Engineering degree with 3–5 years of relevant experience, proficient in reading drawings and CMMS, and capable of troubleshooting complex

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical or Environmental Engineering or related field.
• 3–5 years in wastewater treatment or industrial maintenance.
• Sound knowledge of wastewater treatment processes and Malaysia environmental regulations.
• Ability to read technical drawings, schematics and manuals.
• Experience with CMMS and monitoring systems.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills; capable of working independently and in a team.
• Fluent in English; Bahasa Malaysia is helpful.
• Valid driving licence and willingness to travel within the facility.

Responsibilities

• Conduct routine inspections, maintenance, and servicing of wastewater treatment equipment and systems to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
• Monitor wastewater quality parameters and treatment processes, recording data and preparing reports for regulatory compliance.
• Identify and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and mechanical issues, implementing corrective actions promptly.
• Perform preventative maintenance activities including cleaning, lubrication, calibration, and component replacement.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, logs, and documentation in accordance with company procedures and environmental regulations.
• Coordinate with external contractors and service providers for specialised maintenance and repairs as required.
• Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, safety standards, and company policies relating to wastewater management.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance wastewater treatment efficiency and reduce operational costs.
• Assist in training and mentoring junior maintenance staff on proper procedures and safety protocols.
• Respond to emergency situations and equipment failures, implementing timely solutions to minimise downtime.

About the role

IBIDEN Electronics Malaysia Sdn Bhd is seeking a dedicated Wastewater Maintenance Engineer to join our engineering team. This is a full-time position based in Bukit Minyak, Penang. As Wastewater Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible for the operation, maintenance, and optimisation of our wastewater treatment systems and infrastructure. This role is critical to ensuring environmental compliance, protecting our facilities, and maintaining the highest standards of operational excellence across our manufacturing operations.

Key responsibilities

Conduct routine inspections, maintenance, and servicing of wastewater treatment equipment and systems to ensure optimal performance and reliability

What we're looking for

Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline

Minimum 3–5 years of experience in wastewater treatment, water management, or industrial maintenance engineering

Sound knowledge of wastewater treatment processes, equipment, and environmental regulations applicable in Malaysia

Proficiency in reading technical drawings, schematics, and maintenance manuals

Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and within a team

Experience with computerised maintenance management systems (CMMS) and equipment monitoring systems

Knowledge of mechanical systems including pumps, motors, filters, and control systems used in wastewater facilities

Excellent organisational and record-keeping abilities

Valid driving licence and willingness to travel within the facility premises as required

Fluency in English; knowledge of Bahasa Malaysia is advantageous

Strong commitment to health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards
