Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Monitor and operate wastewater treatment plant equipment daily.
• Inspect and maintain tanks, pumps, filters, and WWTP infrastructure.
• Test water samples to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Record data, test results, and maintenance activities meticulously.
• Troubleshoot malfunctions and implement corrective measures.
• Assist with repairs and replacement of worn components.
• Keep inventory of chemicals, materials and spare parts.

About the role

IBIDEN Electronics Malaysia Sdn Bhd is seeking a dedicated and skilled WWTP Technician to join our operations team at our Bukit Minyak facility in Penang. This is a full-time position that plays a crucial role in maintaining and managing our wastewater treatment plant operations. As WWTP Technician, you will be responsible for ensuring that our treatment systems operate efficiently, safely and in compliance with all environmental regulations. This role is essential to our commitment to environmental stewardship and operational excellence.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and operate wastewater treatment plant equipment and systems on a daily basis
• Conduct regular inspections and maintenance of treatment tanks, pumps, filters and other WWTP infrastructure
• Perform routine testing of water samples to ensure compliance with environmental standards and regulations
• Record and document all operational data, test results and maintenance activities in accordance with company procedures
• Identify and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and implement corrective measures
• Assist with equipment repairs and replacement of worn components
• Maintain accurate inventory of chemicals, materials and spare parts required for WWTP operations
• Support compliance with all environmental permits, licences and regulatory requirements
• Report any operational issues or safety concerns to supervisors immediately
• Participate in training and development to maintain and enhance technical knowledge

What we're looking for

• A diploma or certificate in Environmental Engineering, Water Treatment Technology, or a related technical field
• Minimum 2-3 years of hands-on experience operating and maintaining wastewater treatment facilities
• Knowledge of wastewater treatment processes, including biological and chemical treatment methods
• Proficiency in water quality testing and familiarity with standard testing equipment and procedures
• Strong understanding of environmental regulations and compliance requirements in Malaysia
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate operational records
• Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting capabilities
• Physical fitness to perform manual tasks and work in varying environmental conditions
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team
• Reliability, punctuality and a commitment to safety in the workplace
• Preferably holds or is willing to obtain relevant certifications such as Water Treatment Operator certification
