About the role

J.Xuan Kitchen 佳轩中餐厅 is seeking enthusiastic and professional Waiters/Waitresses to join our hospitality team at our Setia Tropika Johor location. This is a full-time position where you will be the face of our restaurant, delivering exceptional service to our valued guests. As a Waiter/Waitress, you will play a crucial role in creating memorable dining experiences and ensuring customer satisfaction is at the heart of everything we do. Your dedication to service excellence will directly contribute to the success and reputation of our establishment.

What you'll be doing

• Greeting guests warmly upon arrival and seating them at appropriate tables in accordance with restaurant procedures
• Presenting menus and providing knowledgeable recommendations about our food and beverage offerings
• Taking accurate food and drink orders from customers and communicating them clearly to the kitchen and bar staff
• Delivering food and beverages promptly to tables whilst ensuring presentation standards are maintained
• Checking in with guests throughout their meal to ensure satisfaction and address any concerns or requests
• Processing payments accurately using the point-of-sale system and handling cash or card transactions professionally
• Maintaining cleanliness and organisation of dining areas, tables, and service stations throughout your shift
• Setting and resetting tables according to restaurant standards before and after each service
• Assisting with special requests and accommodating dietary requirements or preferences where possible
• Working collaboratively with kitchen and bar staff to ensure smooth service operations
• Adhering to health and safety regulations and food handling standards

What we're looking for

• Previous experience as a Waiter/Waitress or in a similar customer-facing hospitality role is preferred
• Strong communication skills with the ability to interact courteously and professionally with diverse guests
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy when taking orders and processing transactions
• Physical ability to stand for extended periods and carry plates, trays, and beverages safely
• Knowledge of food and beverage service standards and etiquette
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tables simultaneously
• Positive attitude, patience, and genuine enthusiasm for providing outstanding customer service
• Reliability and punctuality with a strong work ethic
• Willingness to work flexible shifts including evenings, weekends, and public holidays as required
• Basic understanding of food allergies and dietary requirements is advantageous
• Fluency in English and Mandarin Chinese is preferred to serve our diverse clientele effectively
